Exclusive Benefits of Upgrading to a Paid Subscription to the AgileWay Newsletter
What is the AgileWay Newsletter about, and how can a small personal investment create a competitive edge over peers?
With over 600 articles in this Substack newsletter—more than half migrated from Medium—I realized I’ve never written one that explains what this newsletter is about or the benefits of becoming a paid subscriber. So here it is.
About this AgileWay Newsletter
The AgileWay Newsletter focuses on the following key areas:
End-to-End Test Automation
Covering web, mobile, and desktop applications, as well as API testing. My credentials: Over 20 years of practical experience implementing real-world end-to-end test automation, author of 12 books on the subject, with 154 articles featured in four leading software testing newsletters.
Check out, Showcase a 500+ End-to-End (via UI) Test Suite: E2E Test Automation is Surely Feasible for Large/Complex AppCI/CD Pipeline
Sharing insights into effective Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery practices.
My credentials: I developed the BuildWise Continuous Testing Server, which won 2nd place at the Ruby International Award in Japan.Agile Software Development with High Productivity and Quality
Exploring proven best practices and identifying anti-patterns in Agile development.
My credentials: I created several internationally acclaimed applications—including TestWise, ClinicWise, BuildWise, and WhenWise—all developed in my spare time.
My Writing Style: Direct, Bold in Predictions, Focused on Professional Growth
My original—and still main—purpose in blogging is to share my 25+ years of experience in software development, especially in test automation and CI/CD, with my daughter. This is not about chasing trends or popularity; it’s about meaningful, practical insights.
Direct
As an engineer, I believe the best way to communicate is straightforwardly. Examples:Back up with real evidence
With a research background, I developed a habit of backing my statements with evidence (real stuff), often quoting the world’s leading authorities.Examples:
Another Milestone in Web Test Automation: Over 600 End-to-End Selenium Tests for my WhenWise App
Estimating User Story Points is a Waste of Time, includes quotes from Ron Jeffries (who actually invented story points and later apologised), Scott Ambler, Ken Schwaber, Jim Highsmith, Martin Fowler, and Jeff Sutherland.
100% Independent
I occasionally receive commercial collaboration proposals, all of which I have declined. Recently, one sender asked, “Why?”—hinting at why I turn down money for simply adding some flattering text about their product. I replied, “I prefer to stay independent.”
Long-time readers know that I only recommend 100% free and open-source test automation frameworks and CI/CD solutions, for a simple reason: real end-to-end test automation requires a high degree of flexibility.
I am not against commercial tools, as long as no vendor-locking.Dare to Predict
Experienced writers and readers know that “abstract articles” are safe—but I prefer to make concrete predictions. Many of them have later been proven correct.
Examples:Useful, related to career and professional growth
Most readers of this newsletter are software professionals who are motivated enough to read (which is declining). I respect that, and in return, I share valuable lessons and practical tips that can help you at work and accelerate your career growth, including job finding/interviews. Many of these insights have been proven with my mentees—the one I can publicly mention is my daughter, who started her first job at a FAANG company as the youngest in her branch and became a published book author at just 22 years old.
Examples:
If you’re an ambitious software professional who wants to Escape the 9-to-5 (& office politics) and build your path to financial freedom through software hustling, check out my other newsletter: Software Side Hustler
Once a software professional truly masters end-to-end test automation, the resulting boost in productivity—often 10×—can make their current job feel limiting. That’s when a side hustle becomes the perfect way to leverage your skills, explore new opportunities, and create real financial freedom.
Exclusive Benefits of Paid Subscriptions

I often receive anonymous requests to access some of my paid articles, which I understand. By the way, behind-paywall content is standard practice across all platforms. From another perspective, having access to these articles gives you an advantage. After all, life and work are about competition—about excelling beyond your peers. Spending just a few dollars a month (tax-deductible) for that edge is a real bargain.
